The East Hants Community Learning Association (EHCLA) believes in a stronger, connected community and through individualized programming we are opening the doors to education and transportation, helping create a more prosperous, and proud community.  With a hands-on learning approach, and the availability of transportation, we are empowering individuals to live with a sense of freedom and confidence.

Understanding the educational needs of our community enables us to develop programming and offer opportunities for East Hants residents to gain their GED, upgrade essential skills and get creative with learning. Parents, grandparents and neighbours are often a child’s first teacher.  At EHCLA we support and encourage individual growth, helping families reach their learning potential.

Our East Hants Community Rider (EHCR) is the transportation program of EHCLA.  It was born from a need that is common in many rural areas – Social Isolation. EHCR now helps people of all ages overcome transportation barriers and get to medical appointments, job interviews, classes, personal errands and even social events.

EHCLA and EHCR are invested in the community and people of East Hants and you can be too!

Congratulations to Emile Cormier on the successful completion of his GED Exams!!!

Emile Cormier, originally from East Hants, has worked hard for the last year to complete all the course work needed to write and pass his GED!

Emile had been out of the school environment for around 44 years when he decided it was time to move forward and get his GED. After working at the same job for over 35 years, Emile decided it was time to change his career path. With that change, came a new requirement. Emile said “It’s a starting point, and it’s hard to push yourself, but it’s well worth it in the end.”

After a year of hard work and dedication, Emile has successfully passed his GED exams and is off to pursue his career path!

Good Job Emile, We’re proud of you!
