With a hands-on learning approach, we offer a range of educational services to the residents of East Hants. Understanding the educational needs of our community enables us to develop programming and offer opportunities for you to get your grade 12 equivalency, learn how to use technology, upgrade essential skills and get creative with learning. EHCLA supports and encourages individual growth and helping families reach their learning potential.

Workplace Education
We offer customized programs to help you find success personally and professionally. Whether it's a workshop on skills for the workplace, some direction for career options, or boosting your confidence, our staff are here to help! Educational Programs
We offer a range of programs to improve literacy skills, prepare for your CAEC tests, learn how to use technology, upgrade skills and more! Tuition and books are FREE in our classes. Classes run from September to June, with continuous intake so you can start anytime!

Community Programming
We provide a wide range of fun, interactive, community-based programs to engage the amazing people of East Hants! Stay tuned to our Facebook page for upcoming events and programs.
Our Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) program is designed to help individuals looking to get their Grade 12 equivalency (formerly GED). A list of requirements can be found here.
Our instructor will work together with you to create a plan to help you study and prepare for the tests. We also offer small classes focused on the subjects for the CAEC tests and help you build your confidence to succeed.
Please note that we cannot offer upgrading for those who have already graduated or completed their GED.

Communications for Life in Nova Scotia is a program which offers access to the essentials for many people in our community. From seniors experiencing isolation to newcomers needing to connect, this program serves as an important connection point. This program can help you:
- Develop communications skills and more
- Build your network and connections
- Connect with others and gain confidence
- Discover resources in your community

Whether you are just getting started in the workforce or are looking for new opportunities, our Skills for the Workforce program is a great place to grow your skills. We provide skill training and group programs to help you overcome barriers holding you back. We also discuss long-term career options, how to build your experience and find success. You will work closely with an instructor to learn the skills you need and build your confidence. This program requires registration - please contact us at 902-883-1608 for details.
EHCLA is proud to offer technology classes for community members interested in improving their skills. We provide help with technology, including:

Learning is important across any age and between generations. This is why we host intergenerational learning programs for all members of the community. Some of these programs include:
- Arts and Craft Classes
- Gaelic Classes
- Dungeons & Dragons Sessions
- Cooking Classes
- First Aid / OH&S / WHMIS
- Workshops on a range of topics of interest to the community
